Thai joint on the corner of papaye down
Ash : Zion Thai is at the end of the Papaye road. You know that left turning before you hit Papaye, yeah that one! It's after Forico Mall on the left, right there in the bend.
Dede: Just know that everyone who passes the bend will be staring up your nose and food. It’s a very open restaurant.
Ash: I remember suggesting this place to Dede but we both decided against it because we refuse to eat at sketchy places. But for the love of our cravers and at the hype of a friend we ventured there.
Dede : So I was highly skeptical about this place but Ash said it had been highly recommended to her. Once again, her ability to choose restaurants has been revoked. Indefinitely.
Ash: Rude. This one I refuse to take the blame, it came very highly recommended by some amazing cooks, whom I shall now eternally judge.
Dede: We ordered the Pad Thai, Pineapple Fried Rice and Spring Rolls. The spring rolls were typical thai spring rolls with the gogomi pasta filling and sweet and sour sauce. It was just okay, nothing to write home about.
Ash: These were not thai spring rolls please. They were more like I want to be Thai spring rolls but not sure how to fit in. The pastry was too thick, like regular Ghana spring rolls. They were slightly burnt with an awkward filling and just wasn't up to par of a good Thai spring roll.
Dede: The Thai Pineapple Fried Rice has to be one of the worst dishes I’ve tasted in my life. You know how when you smell a dog, you kinda know what it tastes like. I’m not kidding guys, that’s exactly how the fried rice tasted like. Someone asked me whether a big dog or a small dog. It gets worse, big dog, for all those wondering. A total and complete waste of my money.
Ash: Ouch* I took one mouthful and I couldn't stomach it. It is not good, the smell, the taste, nothing about it was okay. I highly suggest they refrain from plating this dish moving forward. Simply put, buying the fried rice and chicken from the lady in the kiosk whipping up her magic is a waay better use of your money.
Dede: I still stand by the fact that Pad Thai is an acquired taste and I’m not interesting in acquiring that taste. This Pad Thai, however, was a total disaster. The pasta was overly soft and sweet and slimy. Where exactly do they do that at? It was an absolute no from me and my future family members. There was absolutely nothing good on the plate. They asked if we wanted to take away the food. It will be corporal punishment to present that food to someone. I was extra disappointed because this is supposed to be an authentic Thai restaurant.
Ash: Chicken Pad Thai, Thai spicy, no peanuts. I went in so confident with my pad Thai order, it's my absolute fave! I drive 2hours to eat it when I'm in New York and best believe I have zero shame for my foodie adventures. Just for reference I'm going to plock images of actual pad Thai for comparison below. Zion Thai Im not sure you have any idea how to make a pad Thai, the noodles are wrong - they should be flat rice noodles, the sauce is right next to awful and you got my order wrong and sprinkled those peanuts all over the mess you served me. Also, you musta missed the Thai spicy bit because this was below mild. All in all, I left feeling nauseous and you cannot pay me to go back!
Dede: In an ideal world, I wouldn’t have paid but we don’t live in an ideal world and this had to be the most painful 55 cedis i’ve ever let go off. Food wasn’t cheap as well *insert all the angry emojis*
Ash: Such a disappointment! Oh! I ordered Pineapple juice, it was ghs10 and was the best thing on the table! Yay Zion Thai!
