Some One Corner in Kokomemle
One Corner Garden is located at the end of the Kingdom Road in Kokomemle. If you know where the SSNIT office is, your'e there. It's right next to it. The space is green and airy and very welcoming. Heads up they have a major bug problem though.
Ash: This was basically a Long Island Iced Tea with akpeteshie. There was a strong herby African vibe, with that Lemony tang to it, which I appreciated. It was a nice drink, I’d definitely recommend it. But don’t be shy to ask for extra coke though, I did.
Dede: I had the pineapple and apple juice because there was no way I was boozing at 11:55am with that akpeteshie. The juice was freshly made.
The Bofloat Burger
Ash: A burger is a burger, not bread, meat, veggies and a sauce. That goes to say that when you eat a good burger you get one complete taste, which is a burger. When you can isolate the individual tastes, like oh meat! Ahh tomatoes! And there is zero cohesion in the overall taste of the burger you have a problem. I hoped for an exciting burger with the twist of the sweet bufloat taste to add some zest to the game, but it didn’t happen.
Dede: I was so so hyped for this burger because I love love bofloat especially the ones that are white inside and a bit sweet and nutmegy. My absolute fav! I think a bofloat burger is so innovative and I wished wished wished this burger was going to blow my socks away.
Ash: The burger served at one Corner was like the burger you buy at the meat pie stand on the roadside. Think about the burger you’d get from the spring roll stand outside Perfect touch, we all know that burger, think back, imagine, ahhh you know the taste! Yh, that basic burger that was made by the auntie in the kitchen, never a chef. The bofloat burger was that but with bofloat. As you can tell, I’m not tooting any horns about it. The burger as a whole needs to be improved and then we can talk. The yam chips on the other hand were mad fresh though, thumbs up.
Dede: The burger patty to bofloat ratio was 20:80, the patty was basically non existent. After one bite, I was chewing bofloat and veggies but because of my infatuation with bofloat and bread, I wasn't really complaining. This burger could be likened to the funfair burger you will eat at aviation funfair, I don't understand why these people are always so stingy with the burger patty. I expected so much from this burger but it tasted like something I could do at home, just hit up my bofloat babe at the Dzorwulu railway line and marinate my patty. This burger has so so much potential, they could make a sauce with locally sourced ingredients and increase that patty size.
The Meat Platter:
Ash: The meat platter was a combination of meatballs, spring rolls and chicken wings. The spring roll was just okay, quite boring to be entirely honest. The filling wasn’t filling, if you know what I mean. Quite airy and pastry filled on the inside.
Dede: I had such high expectations for this meat platter. You know when spring rolls have that off taste from the 1001 veggies in it. It had exactly that taste. I've realized that if you go anywhere and they have samosas and spring roll, choose samosas. I'm yet to have a samosa that is filled with veggies I didn't ask for.
Ash: The meatballs were way too moist. Not that they were undercooked but the mixture was just off and so although the meatball was fried through, the finished product just had too much water in it.
Dede: The meatballs were my least favorite. I think they were undercooked but Chef Ash said that wasn't the case but it was the mixture rather. Hello, it was definitely undercooked. I love meatballs too so you can imagine my disappointment.
Ash: The wings were just okay as well. They really weren’t anything special, basic wings. To be completely honest, I was underwhelmed by the whole plate.
Dede: The wings were basic. They were bland on the inside and coated with a marinade that didn't seep into the chicken.
Ash: One corner is a nice joint, the space is definitely welcoming. They defs need to spray the place because the bugs were insane; ants and flies alike. The food definitely needs a little tweaking here and there but overall a nice space.
