Accra is big on Western cuisine and slowly but with ever so much vigor our menus our flooded with their stuff. Burgers being one of them.
Ash: I’m not sure there’s a menu in Accra that doesn’t feature a burger, any burger.
Dede: Buka doesn’t have a burger on their menu.
Ash: Okay maybe the oriental and local restaurants, but they are so specific so my take is they don’t count. *smiley face*
Dede: Point not too valid but we’ll take it like that.
So your girls have picked Accra’s Top 5 burger spots, to help you invest wisely.
So in no specific order, here you go:
1. Frankie’s Burgers, oldie but goodie
Ash: It wouldn’t shock me that many of you, in your apparent glow up, forgot about Frankie’s Burgers, they were the thing back in the day and best believe they still are.
Dede: Y’all became brand new and forgot that Frankies held you down in the past. It’s not too late to return, they’ll accept you with open arms. They accepted me.
Ash: It’s truly amazing how they have successfully maintained the quality and the taste of their burger.
Dede: Truly amazing.
Ash: Bun, could be a little toastier. Patty, thank you Jesus. The right mix of veg and condiments to have you screaming hallelujah.
Dede: Everything works for me. The key as I have all of them is to get it with fries and coleslaw. It’s a combo. Slab some coleslaw onto the patty, you can add some fries as well but no pressure. Coleslaw is a must though and you’ll be in food heaven.
Ash: That side matters people. When fries are done right, they are the perfect elevator to any burger.
Dede: After reading this, you should be ordering. They deliver too but mans didn’t see her area on the delivery list and I think I live in a residential area so must be a glitch in their system.
Ash: If you haven’t been in a while, this is definitely a burger you need to remind yourself about.
2. The Marriot Red Red burger, what a tasty patty
Ash: Honestly the new kid on the block, but they came out guns blazing. Let me not lie to you, I’m not a burger person. I’ll eat sugar bread with fried chicken any day over a burger. But this Red Red burger is one for the books. It Is so yum. From the presentation to the patty. The patty is the real winner on that burger. It is just so tasty, medium well, lovely texture and a full blast of flavor. No long talk my people, walk in and try it for yourself, you really won’t regret it.
3. Chix n’ Ribs, when the junk food got you
Ash: I don’t know what it is about chix n’ribs but everything they plate is life. I bow down.
Dede: Remove my hat for them. Directly translated from Twi.
Ash: Their burgers are messy, sloppy, oozing with flavor and just so yummy. The taste of that bad for your calorie counting burger coupled with some spicy fries and it’s a moment of culinary joy.
Dede: These are my favorite burgers in the whole of Ghana. If i’m fighting you and you bring this to me hot : Bestiesforlifey. The Jack Burger and the rib burger are my top two. It’s so messy so if you are the shy type do carry it home to eat but it’ll be warm and I like warm food said nobody ever. Eat in, embrace it. You have to order it with the spicy fries. This burger is too messy to put the fries in so you have to be popping the fries into your mouth with the burger for the full effect.
Ash: No two ways about it, Chix n’ ribs is your junk food joint and it won’t deliver on any front but it sure is your spot for downright southern style cooking that will leave you licking your fingers.
Dede: Also, they have the best buns.
4. The Burger and Relish Smokin’ Joe, smokin’ tasty
Ash: The smokin’ Joe, like its name is some really good soul food. My favorite part of this burger is the bacon. It just adds a yummy smoked bacon hint to the burger that just drives it all the way home. The BBQ sauce is sweet and compliments the smokey bacon in a brilliant way. Always go for sweet potato fries and the meal is made. Burger and Relish really offers an extensive menu of burgers to choose from, so if you’re not feeling the bacon vibes, you have a wide set of options to choose from.
5. Tea Baa
Dede : On Monday’s, tea baa has burgers. My fave has got to be the Spicy Sweet Chilli Burger. You guys should know by now that my favorite combo is sweet and savory. This burger is so juicy and bursting with flavor. It has the right kick of spicy and sweet. To be honest, just try it. I’ll be waiting for my accolades.
We obviously can't agree on everything. But let us know what you think, who serves your favorite burgers?
